“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”.
John 3:16
Being a preacher’s wife is filled with blessings and sorrow but with the good Lord’s help, we make it through life. My name is Dorothea and I am the preacher’s wife. Together we bring the gospel to four small churches in the area. Each Sunday during the month, we ride on horse and wagon bringing God’s Word to all who will hear. My husband, Rev. Harless, has been preaching since he was young. His daddy and grand father before him preached anywhere people would stop to hear. I guess you could say it is in his blood but really it was in his calling to do so. Being of strong voice, I usually lead the singing and he reads the word. Preaching just came natural to him. While he never had any schooling, he tells me that God taught him what to say and the bible says it all. His favorite verse is 2 Timothy 2:15, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”. His mother wrote that verse on the inside cover of his bible when he was three years old. The way she tells it, “he was called to be a preacher from that time on”. My husband works at the mill during the week and early Saturday morning we pack up the wagon with bibles, song books, and other items such as food and clothing that we give away to those who need it, and travel to one of the churches in the circuit . He preaches two sermons and I teach Sunday School.
