Gladys June, the owner, always says, "ask for it and of we don't have, give us a month”. I never have to worry about the freshness of the items and if something was not right with what I bought, I could return it with no reason. It didn’t matter what day or time it was, Gladys June always has a smile on her face. Just last week, a new family moved into the area and without thinking, Gladys June gave them enough food to last two weeks and didn’t charge a penny. Many times Edmond gave away items from his cart to a person or family in need. The joke was always, “what ever was left on the wagon was what we lived with” If he could sell it, we did without. That still holds true today with the Country Store here in Whitesburg. My son Gavin loves the store but I know he would have enjoyed the Peddler Cart. Gladys June still has Edmond’s wagon and travel chest displayed in the back. Gavin comes in the store and runs to the cart, he has often told me that he wants to be a Peddler when he grows up. I will never forget Edmond but William has made a good living and we have a wonderful home here.
