Pulling up to Perry's Country Store I notices a large crowd standing around something. As we got near, I saw what it was. Parked out front of the store was the Ford Depot Hack. Folks were talking about how fast it was and many wishing they could take it for a drive. The black tires gleamed in the sunlight. What I didn't see was the driver. Tom jumped out and headed over to the car. He didn't even stop to help me down off the wagon. Mrs. Perkins, the local town gossip was craning her neck out the window of the store to see what all the fuss was about. Mr. Jenkins, the banker was holding something in his hand and give it to Tom as he approached. The next thing I knew, Tom was climbing in behind the steering wheel and it was the key in his hand. I called out to him but he didn't hear me as he started up the car. Jeff from Bill's Garage turned the crank as the engine fired up. Cheers went up as a puff of smoke came out of the back. It was then I knew that we were the proud owners of the wonderful machine.
