I really don't remember what happen that day but now that I think about it, my life was about to change. It all started when I decided to take a walk to one of my friends house. My mother had gone to town and made me promise to stay close to home. She told me that I was just to young to go with the older boys to the fishing lake or their favorite swimming hole. After she left, I went out to swing in the tire swing on the big oak tree. I remember watching the birds flying towards the fields full with corn. Farmer Jones was walking behind a horse and wagon stacked to the top with fresh corn. About that time Bobby, Frank, and Bill, three older boys were walking towards the swimming hole. Bobby was punching Frank's arm and Bill was throwing rocks at an old sigh. Bobby yelled back at me and said, "come on with us to the lake." I didn't answer him back at first but after several 'I dare you', 'chicken', and finally, "what's wrong little man, are you still tied to your mommy apron strings", I guess it got the best of me and I ran out of the yard on my way for a day of fun.
