Swift Wolf
"Swift as the wind, quiet as a feather hitting hard on the ground, and cunning as a fox".
I respect those who want to live in peace but as a nation, the Shawnee have been on the move since I was young. I have not spent more than 2 years in any one place. I have always respected the land and the people who attempted to take care of what the Great One created. I remember always hearing that the land requires respect in order to live off it it. That is why my brothers have always practiced this everywhere we have lived. Each time we move on, it becomes harder to find land where we can hunt and harvest what we need. The Shawnee are proud and hardworking people and we just want to live in peace. As winter sets in, I am always looking for the next deer or elk that will complete our needs for the long winter. If I do not find it soon, we many have to stretch out what we have. It is always hard to survive when we are limited to where we can hunt or grow the crops we need. We have been following our current path towards a new land for many moons and we hope that this journey will end with a new tribal nation for the Shawnee. It has not been easy and the path is hard. Fur trade is an important part of Shawnee life so a great deal of time is spent hunting and trapping for that purpose. Our ways are different than the white man but there are some that are the same. We must find those ideals that are the same and build upon them to ensure the peace. Until then, we will focus on what is right for us.
