My name is Jason and I and my family are traveling out west to find land to live on. Just like my grandpappy who traveled across the Appalachian Mountains to settle his family, I am following that same pioneer spirit as we head out west. My wife, Fancy Flowers, and sons, Sawyer and Little Corn loaded up the Conestoga Wagon that was sold to me by a friend at the mill. I had to sell my pocket watch and gun just to get the wagon. I remember Big John down at the sawmill had heard about a new settlement on the banks of the Ohio River just past the great "Kanawha River". We are leaving on a quest. I told my son, Sawyer that if we leave for the new land as soon as we can, he will get to have his own cow. You see my paw was a farmer and so am I. My Pappy loved turning the earth and planting that “golden grain” or wheat. His pappy and his grand pappy before him were farmers. I had to take a job at the sawmill so that we could live. Going out west would give us land and a new beginning.
