I love to hear Miss Betty read to us.  Usually it is a Bible story or maybe a passage from one of the history books.  She really brings it to life each time she reads to us.  Recess is fun but usually I find a bit of shade and set down with a book.  Most of all, I love numbers and once I learned to add and subtract, it became easy.  This year we are learning how to multiply numbers.  I spend several hours learning my tables. Mother told me that it was very important to learn my tables.  Since I love math, it doesn’t seem that hard.  Right before lunch, we get to spend time drawing or painting.  I am making a pretty picture for my mother.  I painted a picture of her doing laundry.  My little dog spot is pulling on the clothes on the line while she scrubs the clothes using the wash board.  I hope she will like the picture. After lunch, we learn about history and nature.  I love history because I get to learn about things I didn’t know.  It seems like it will never end but I do love it. Our school day ends with cleaning up the school room. Sometimes I get to clean the desks off or maybe sweep the floors.  Miss Miller stands by the door and tells all of us good bye until tomorrow.  I usually hug her as I leave.  She pats me on the head and then has me run through my tables. Susie is always waiting for me outside so we can walk home together.  Up the road comes spot wagging her tail.  Maybe some day, spot will be able to come to school. I just know she would love mathematics just like I do.  Well it takes about one hour to walk home and I know my chores are waiting for me there.  I will try to read some before going to bed tonight.  My name is Prisciller and I love to learn.
