"I hope they still have the penny candy in the glass case at the store!". I love going to Perry's Country Store and see all the new things they get each week. My Mother tells me that Perry's is the best store for miles around. The first thing you notice is the smells. Sometimes I can smell the sawdust on the floor and other times it is the fresh coffee. They have cases filled with sewing items, tobacco, and all the fresh fruit you could eat. Once you got past the door and dodged the people shopping, you see the best of all items, the candy. Gumdrops, chocolate, candy bars, and mints. For one penny you could leave with a sweet treat. I would always go there with my mother and then spend most of my time looking at the candy. Gladys June, the store owner always told me to clean off all the finger prints on the class case. Sometimes, old man Jordan would slip me two or three pennies so that I could buy candy. My mother tried to tell him to stop it but he just walks away as of he didn't hear her. For a 7 year old boy, life is Great!
