When I finally came to, Bobby and Frank were standing over me. Bill had run back to the field where Farmer Jones had been and they were now lifting me up into his wagon. The ride was bumpy and the hay in the wagon itched my back. The next thing I remember was my mother holding me in her arms and crying. They told me that I almost died in the water. If it had not been for that rope belt hanging down, I would have drown. I guess you could say that being tied to mommy's apron strings finally was not such a bad thing.
